MACA Limited is a Team Sponsor of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth in 2017
Hawaiian Ride for Youth, in Support of Youth Focus. April 2017.
Team MACA once again took part in the annual Hawaiian Ride for Youth with 150 riders, the largest number in the events 15 year history, covering 700km from Albany to Perth in three pelotons over three different courses.
The ride this year made $2.26M, with MACA once again one of the leading fundraisers, principally through the breakfast which made a staggering $110,000. The funds raised play a crucial role in helping our young people in regional areas, providing professional councillors to look after their mental health.
On their journey the riders stop at high schools to engage the students in the issues of youth suicide, depression and self-harm and the services that Youth Focus provide. The riders also share their personal stories and experiences as many have been touched in some way by these very personal issues.
The MACA Team is captained by Mark Sladden (6th time a rider), along with ride veteran David Kent (5th time a rider) and newcomers to the team Martin Pratt, Tiharna McGregor and Vivienne Powe - this year completing the “coastal” route.
Congratulations to stalwarts Mark and David and newcomers Martin, Tiharna and Vivienne for this huge effort and to all those that helped and supported them, you should all be very proud.
