MACA Civil is a finalist in the CCF WA 2021 Earth Awards for the delivery of the Karratha – Tom Price Road Section 3 project for Main Roads Western Australia.
This project has allowed improved access to Millstream Chichester National Park and Karijini National park. It has further reduced travel times, created a better connection between the towns of Karratha, Roebourne, Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Newman, and has also improved access to hospitals, medical services, local business, shopping and service centres.
Works included new and modified culverts and floodways, embankment construction, ‘F’ Type and table drains, pavement construction, and installation of safety barriers, line marking, signs and guideposts.
Over 12 months with nearly a quarter of a million labour hours in the remote Pilbara of WA, there were no lost time or recordable injuries. The project also achieved a 9% Aboriginal participation rate and more than 50% of subcontractors were local businesses.
The winner of the Earth Award will be announced on October 1st 2021.
