MACA Cancer 200 Breaks Records for Cancer Research

On October 16 and 17, the 10th annual MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research took place which saw 1,550 riders hit the road on a 200-km, two-day journey from Optus Stadium to Mandurah and back.

As Australia’s largest charity bike ride, raising funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, this year’s event raised a record-breaking $7 million!

The MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research is much more than a charity event.  Each year, riders form an incredible community that is bound together by one common cause – to end cancer for good.

Every person who rides has a story. Yellow flags were sported by some riders to signify their previous or ongoing battle with cancer.

On day one of the ride, cyclists rode 100km to Mandurah and were cheered on every pedal of the way by volunteers, supporters, family and friends.

During the evening, cancer survivors shared their stories, tears were shed, laughter was shared, and tired legs were ignored as the Saturday night fun began.

On day two of the ride, enthusiasm was still at an all-time high as riders began their return to the finish line at Optus Stadium, followed by post-ride celebrations at The Camfield.

A big congratulations to all the wonderful riders and volunteers who took part over the weekend. A special mention to all 357 riders within Team MACA. We are very proud of what we have all achieved together for cancer research.

Thank you to the Perkins team for hosting such a remarkable event as we continue to strive for a cancer-free future together.

Our close relationship with the Perkins forms an integral part of the MACA culture and is built from our values of Community and People First.

We are proud to be the ongoing title sponsor of the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research and we look forward to continuing our support of the Perkins and cancer research into the future.
