The remote O Tang Lang Village community in Cambodia has excitingly welcomed a brand-new primary school, made possible through the ongoing support of MACA OPMS, and our client, Renaissance Minerals.
The new school building was designed to meet the educational and accessibility needs of the community, featuring a sturdy concrete foundation, hardwood walls, and a zinc roof. With three classrooms, the structure provides a safe and reliable learning environment for local students.
The grand opening was recently celebrated with a gathering of the school’s passionate community, including teachers, students, families, local authorities, and MACA OPMS representatives. The event marked a fresh chapter in the village’s journey toward enhanced educational opportunities.
To complement the project, Trish Lewis, Head of Risk & Governance at Thiess, generously donated one of the three whiteboards that MACA OPMS pledged for the classrooms.
At the opening, Mr. Sidorn Chan, School Principal and Director said, “On behalf of our community, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to MACA OPMS and Renaissance Minerals for their generous support in constructing our new school building. This contribution will have a lasting impact on our community, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to education and the future of our children.”
For the past five years, MACA OPMS has remained dedicated to empowering communities across Cambodia through meaningful and sustainable partnerships. This new school stands as a testament to this commitment, following previous efforts in 2023 to support Longnest Village with the construction of a toilet block and providing essential classroom equipment, such as desks, chairs, and whiteboards.
Initiatives like these highlight MACA OPMS’ focus on making a tangible, lasting difference in underserved areas by investing in education and infrastructure. With each endeavour, MACA OPMS continues to show its unwavering dedication to giving back and building brighter futures.
