New bridge lifts restrictions

Works are progressing well on the Edwards Bridge in Warrnambool Victoria. MACA Infrastructure were engaged by the Warrnambool City Council to demolish and remove an existing timber bridge that has been in service for over 100 years and construct a new 2-span reinforced concrete bridge in its place.

Daniel Sutton, Project Supervisor, said MACA is pleased to be strengthening its relationship with the Warrnambool City Council.

“This is one of Council’s biggest infrastructure project of the year, and we are pleased to be a part of it.

“The upgrade will remove the previous load restrictions on this route and is a project that is welcomed by the local community,” said Daniel.

A significant portion of the project has been procured locally. Upon completion, the bridge will improve the connectivity around the Warrnambool foreshore precinct equipped with bike lanes, pedestrian walkways on both sides and heavy vehicle access.
